Lamia Sayegh: An Euploid Embryo Is Not the Whole Story…

Lamia Sayegh, Specialist in Infertility at Fakih IVF Fertility Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Christine Whitehead et al. published in Fertility and Sterility:

“An euploid embryo is not the whole story.

A new study published in Fertility and Sterility highlights an important message for our patients undergoing euploid frozen embryo transfer: factors other than embryonic aneuploidy can influence pregnancy outcome.

The study found that patients with obesity had a 19% higher adjusted risk of pregnancy loss after euploid embryo transfer compared with patients without obesity.

This is an important opportunity for counseling. When appropriate, we should encourage patients to optimize their weight and metabolic health before embryo transfer.

A euploid embryo is an important step – but it does not eliminate all the other factors that influence reproductive success.”
