Can Fertility Treatment Help Reverse Demographic Decline – Fertility Consultancy
Fertility Consultancy shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Many developed countries face a common demographic challenge:
birth rates remain below the replacement level of around 2.1 children per woman, leading to ageing populations, labour shortages, and increasing pressure on welfare systems. While there is no single solution, improving access to fertility treatment has become an important part of the response, where Denmark demonstrates the potential impact.
Roughly 10% of all children born in Denmark is now conceived through assisted reproductive technology (ART), making fertility treatment a significant contributor to national birth numbers. Public funding, broad access, and high-quality fertility care have enabled thousands of families to have children who otherwise might not have been born (in Danish).
As fertility rates continue to decline across Europe, East Asia, North America and other developed regions, experts increasingly view accessible fertility care as an investment in both individual reproductive rights and long-term societal sustainability. While fertility treatment alone cannot reverse demographic decline, it can help more people achieve their desired family size and make a meaningful contribution to improving birth rates.”
Peter Reeslev, Founder and CEO at Fertility Consultancy, shared Fertility Consultancy’s post, adding:
“Will Denmark reach the fertility rate needed to sustain its population after more than 50 years below replacement level? If so, this would mark a remarkable demographic milestone. And, it also raises an important question: What role has fertility treatment played in this development?”
