Jennifer R. Berman: Symptoms Are Important, but They Aren’t the Whole Story
Jennifer R. Berman, Co-Founder and Creator of The Menopause Biotype, shared on LinkedIn:
”One of the more dangerous assumptions in midlife medicine is that if a woman feels fine, everything must be fine. That’s not always how risk works.
Bone density can decline quietly. ApoB can rise without symptoms. Visceral fat can increase even when weight looks stable. Muscle mass can drop gradually enough that a woman doesn’t notice until strength and metabolism have already changed.
Symptoms are important, but they aren’t the whole story. This is why midlife care has to become more proactive. We should be looking at cardiovascular markers, body composition, bone health, metabolic function, cognition, and hormonal status before a woman develops an obvious problem.”
