“10 Things Everyone Should Know About PCOS․
- PCOS is more than an ovarian condition
It can affect hormonal, metabolic, reproductive, and overall health – not just the ovaries. - PCOS can look different in every woman
Symptoms and their severity vary. Not everyone experiences the same combination of irregular periods, acne, excess hair growth, or fertility difficulties. - You can have PCOS without ‘cysts’
Despite its name, ovarian cysts are not required for a PCOS diagnosis. The condition is diagnosed using established clinical criteria. - PCOS can affect fertility – but it doesn’t mean infertility
Ovulation problems can make conception more difficult, but many women with PCOS can conceive with appropriate support and treatment. - PCOS can affect metabolic health
Insulin resistance, abnormal blood glucose, and increased risk of metabolic complications can be associated with PCOS. - PCOS isn’t only about weight
PCOS can occur in people across different body sizes. Weight alone does not diagnose or exclude the condition. - Lifestyle matters – but there is no single ‘PCOS diet’
Balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and sustainable healthy habits can support overall health, but management should be individualized. - PCOS can affect mental wellbeing
Women with PCOS may experience increased psychological challenges, making emotional wellbeing an important part of comprehensive care. - PCOS requires long-term management
Symptoms and health priorities can change throughout life. Ongoing monitoring and personalized care can help address changing needs. - Early awareness can make a difference
Recognizing symptoms and seeking appropriate medical evaluation can help women understand their health and make informed decisions earlier.
