Devyanshi Dixit: Perimenopause Awareness Month – Recognizing the Transition

Devyanshi Dixit, Program Manager at CLS Event and Publication and Conference Manager at the 12th Global Summit on Gynecology, shared on LinkedIn:

”I don’t feel like myself anymore.

A woman once described her perimenopause this way.

Not because she had suddenly become a different person.

But because her body had started changing before she had words for what was happening.

  • The sleepless nights.
  • The sudden anxiety.
  • The brain fog.
  • The unpredictable periods.
  • The exhaustion that sleep couldn’t fix.
  • The feeling of being overwhelmed by things that once felt easy.

And perhaps the hardest part?

Everyone kept telling her she was ‘just stressed.’

But perimenopause is not simply ‘getting older.’

It is a significant biological transition – often beginning years before menopause – when hormonal fluctuations can affect sleep, mood, cognition, metabolism, sexual health, menstrual patterns and overall wellbeing.

Yet many women enter this chapter without anyone explaining what to expect.

They question themselves.

  • ‘Why am I feeling like this?
  • ‘Why can’t I concentrate?’
  • ‘Why am I suddenly so tired?
  • ‘Is this really happening to me?’

Maybe the conversation around perimenopause needs to change.

From:

‘It’s normal. Just deal with it.’

To:

‘You deserve to understand what is happening to your body.’

From:

‘It’s just hormones.’

To:

‘Your symptoms are real, and they deserve to be heard.’

Because behind every symptom is a woman trying to continue being a daughter, mother, partner, professional, leader, caregiver – while quietly navigating a body that is changing.

And she shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.

Let’s start a conversation.

What is one thing you wish every woman knew about perimenopause before experiencing it herself?

Maybe your answer could help another woman realize:

‘I’m not alone. And I’m not imagining this.’

GFWH 2026 recognizes perimenopause as a major and evolving area of women’s health.

By bringing this conversation to a worldwide scientific platform in Bangkok, Thailand, GFWH 2026 aims to keep perimenopause at the forefront of global discussion, research, clinical innovation, and women-centred healthcare.

Because this is not just a phase of life – it is a major women’s health conversation that deserves a global platform.”
