Laura Okafor: September Is Perimenopause Awareness Month
Laura Okafor, Founder and CEO at Perry, shared on LinkedIn:
”Three years ago, Perry started something with the National Menopause Foundation. Perimenopause Awareness Month. Perimenopause deserved its own conversation.
Back then, most women didn’t even have the words for what they were going through. DoctoPerimenopause Awareness Monthrs weren’t trained on it. Symptoms got brushed off, misdiagnosed, or just quietly lived with for years.
That has shifted dramatically in the last 3 years. Women are talking about it more. With Perry Academy we see the determination of clinicians to actually learn the material. Workplaces and policymakers have started paying attention too.
Now we need the CARE to catch up, and that part takes longer.
So here we are again. September means making perimenopause visible, making the education easy to find, and making sure women get more than just a nod of recognition.
Thank you to the National Menopause Foundation for building this with us since day one. And to every woman, every provider, every advocate who’s kept showing up for it.
Welcome back to Perimenopause Awareness Month. Here’s to year three.”
