“This week we held our annual staff retreat at The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. It was something I’ve been so looking forward to since starting my role at SMFM in June. While working through so many important things with our incredible team has been so fulfilling, there is nothing like being together face to face.
Coming out of the retreat, I’m absolutely astounded at the fun-loving, smart, dedicated, and passionate team we have.
We learned together about pressing priorities, including our advocacy agenda and work in reproductive health.
We had an incredible session on AI fundamentals and built a roadmap for appropriately and thoughtfully building AI into our staff and member operations.
We talked extensively about culture, empowerment, being our whole selves, and the criticality of our mission in today’s environment.
And probably most importantly, we put that all to the side and had so much fun playing SMFM Family Feud and bowling.
My enthusiasm for helping to lead this amazing team is somehow even greater today. Our bold dedication to our vision of advancing optimal and equitable perinatal outcomes for all people who desire or experience pregnancy is so clear.
I suspect that in the coming years things will get even more challenging in maternal-fetal medicine here in the USA and around the world, but I know with complete certainty that we have the team to overcome those challenges, working with our amazing members on the frontlines of care every day.
