“Today is International Clinical Trials Day.
Today is International Clinical Trials Day.
Every guideline I rely on in clinic – from antenatal screening pathways to delivery decisions in twin pregnancy – exists because clinicians, statisticians and, crucially, patients took part in clinical trials.
Maternal and fetal medicine has been transformed by trials: NIPT validation, antenatal corticosteroids, magnesium sulphate for neuroprotection, antihypertensive thresholds, and now AI-assisted ultrasound.
To everyone who has participated in a trial during pregnancy — your contribution shapes the care of women and babies you will never meet.
