Ali Chappell: Why Insulin Deserves a Front-Row Seat in Women’s Health
Ali Chappell, Founder and CEO at Lilli Health, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Faria Athar et al. published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism:
“New research shows that high fasting insulin before menopause predicts earlier, longer, and more severe hot flashes and night sweats.
And the bigger question is this: When are we going to stop ignoring something we have known for decades?
Not just for menopause.
- For PCOS.
- For infertility.
- For recurrent miscarriage.
- For heart disease.
- For reproductive cancers.
- For Alzheimer’s disease.
Insulin is not a side character in women’s health. It is a central driver. Yet we keep treating symptoms instead of addressing the root.
If we truly want healthier women, we need earlier detection. That means testing fasting insulin every time labs are ordered.”
