Black Women Are Twice as Likely to Experience Infertility as White Women – RMA of Michigan

Reproductive Medicine Associates of Michigan shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Research shows that Black women are nearly twice as likely to experience infertility compared to White women, with conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, and uterine fibroids being more common. These conditions are often diagnosed later, reducing treatment options and success rates.

Despite higher rates of infertility, Black women are less likely to access treatment, and may wait twice as long before seeking help. Maternal mortality rates are also significantly higher for Black women in the U.S.

This Black History Month, let’s acknowledge the unique reproductive health challenges faced by the Black community. Equitable fertility care means access, understanding, and solutions that work for everyone.

RMA of Michigan is proud to continue our mission of celebrating all paths to parenthood, ensuring equal access to essential family-building support. We are committed to providing every patient with the respect, compassion, and expertise they deserve.”
