“10 Things Everyone Should Know About PCOS․

  1. PCOS is more than an ovarian condition
It can affect hormonal, metabolic, reproductive, and overall health – not just the ovaries.
  2. PCOS can look different in every woman
Symptoms and their severity vary. Not everyone experiences the same combination of irregular periods, acne, excess hair growth, or fertility difficulties.
  3. You can have PCOS without ‘cysts’
Despite its name, ovarian cysts are not required for a PCOS diagnosis. The condition is diagnosed using established clinical criteria.
  4. PCOS can affect fertility – but it doesn’t mean infertility
Ovulation problems can make conception more difficult, but many women with PCOS can conceive with appropriate support and treatment.
  5. PCOS can affect metabolic health
Insulin resistance, abnormal blood glucose, and increased risk of metabolic complications can be associated with PCOS.
  6. PCOS isn’t only about weight
PCOS can occur in people across different body sizes. Weight alone does not diagnose or exclude the condition.
  7. Lifestyle matters – but there is no single ‘PCOS diet’
Balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and sustainable healthy habits can support overall health, but management should be individualized.
  8. PCOS can affect mental wellbeing
Women with PCOS may experience increased psychological challenges, making emotional wellbeing an important part of comprehensive care.
  9. PCOS requires long-term management
Symptoms and health priorities can change throughout life. Ongoing monitoring and personalized care can help address changing needs.
  10. Early awareness can make a difference
Recognizing symptoms and seeking appropriate medical evaluation can help women understand their health and make informed decisions earlier.
