Sarah Banks: What If Easing an IVF Patient’s Anxiety Was Simpler Than You Thought?

Sarah Banks, Fertility Support Consultant of Sarah Banks Coaching, shared on LinkedIn։

“What actually helps a patient feel less anxious when they’re sitting in your clinic?

It’s easy to assume the answer is something big or resource-heavy, but the small things can shift how someone feels too – little, thoughtful moments that tell a patient they’re safe here and that they don’t have to hold it all together on their own.

There’s no doubt that a fertility clinic is rarely a neutral place for the people walking through it. Hope and fear tend to arrive together, and even the calmest-looking patient may be carrying far more worry than they show.

But the good news is that easing some of that anxiety doesn’t always mean adding to your team’s workload. Often it’s about the way existing moments are handled, from a pause to listen to an answer to a piece of information sent home at the right time.

I’ve gathered 5 of the most effective small moments into the carousel below: simple, practical and effective touches that just make your clinic feel like a calmer place to be.

And if reading them highlights a few gaps, that’s good to know – because working out what’s missing, and building the resources to fill it, is part of what my Monthly Nurse Support Calls are for.”
