Why Extending Letrozole May Improve Ovulation in PCOS? – Fertility Plus
Fertility Plus shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In resistant PCOS, extending letrozole doesn’t push the ovary harder — it simply gives it more time to respond.”
Most people think increasing the dose is the answer.
But sometimes, the real solution is time.
In PCOS patients who don’t respond to standard 5-day letrozole:
- The issue isn’t always insufficient stimulation
- It’s often a short FSH window
By extending letrozole to 7–10 days:
- Follicles get more time to grow
- Estrogen rises later but adequately
- Endometrium develops properly
- Ovulation occurs naturally
Same drug. Better timing. Better outcomes.

Extending letrozole treatment duration is effective in inducing ovulation in women with polycystic ovary syndrome and letrozole resistance.
