Azmy Birdi: Physiological Changes During Menopausal Transition May Increase Cardiometabolic Risk
Azmy Birdi, Clinical and Care Professional Lead Women’s Health at NHS Thames Valley Integrated Care Board, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“During the menopausal transition, a number of physiological changes are observed, including weight gain and an increase in abdominal fat, which can lead to an increased risk of cardiometabolic disorders. Energy balance (i.e. the balance between energy intake and expenditure) may influence these changes.”
