Progestin Analogues Effectively Restore FOXM1 Expression but Leave Key Gaps – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The findings of this study into the role of FOXM1 in the pathogenesis of recurrent pregnancy loss indicate that while progestin analogues effectively restore FOXM1 expression and key decidual functions such as cellular migration, they do not down-regulate senescence markers or improve trophoblast-like spheroid expansion.
The authors say this disconnect reflects the presence of a persistent senescent phenotype, which, despite FOXM1 restoration and increased migration of primary decidual cells, may impede spheroid spreading through paracrine signalling and remodelling of the extracellular matrix. This, in turn, suggests that enhancing decidualization alone may be insufficient.
Based on their findings, the authors suggest a preliminary hypothesis involving both decidual maturation and senescence-related pathway.
