Reproductive Risks and Fertility Preservation After Iodine Therapy – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This new narrative review from Fatih Aktoz, Ali Can Gunes, Can Tercan, Mehmet Onur Demirkol, and KAYHAN YAKIN summarizes the current evidence regarding the reproductive risks associated with RAI therapy with a SWOT analysis to evaluate the rationale for fertility preservation.
The review analyses the benefits versus risks, areas of uncertainty and prospects for future research to support evidence-based counselling and decision-making in women of reproductive age who are candidates for RAI therapy for thyroid cancer.
From their findings the authors suggest that, until higher-level evidence is available, individualized counselling utilizing standardized referral pathways, risk stratification and fertility preservation options would provide the best care for women of reproductive age who are candidates for RAI therapy for thyroid cancer.
As with all RBMO Review articles this article is free to read, and can be accessed ahead of press from issue 53.2 now.”
