Devyanshi Dixit: Perimenopause Is More Than Just Mood Swings…
Devyanshi Dixit, Conference Manager at the 12th Global Summit on Gynecology, Fertility and Women’s Health, and Program Manager at CLS Event and Publication, shared on LinkedIn:
“Perimenopause: It’s More Than Just Mood Swings
Mood changes are often the first thing people associate with perimenopause.
But the transition to menopause can affect far more than emotions.
What Can Change?
- Periods
Cycles may become irregular, heavier, lighter, shorter, or longer.
- Body Temperature
Hot flashes and night sweats can suddenly become part of everyday life.
- Sleep
Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep can affect energy and concentration.
- Brain and Cognition
Some women experience brain fog, difficulty concentrating, or changes in memory.
- Metabolic and Cardiovascular Health
Changes in estrogen and aging can influence body composition, cholesterol, and cardiovascular risk.
- Bone Health
Declining estrogen can accelerate bone loss, making long-term bone health an important consideration.
- Genitourinary Health
Vaginal dryness, discomfort during sex, urinary symptoms, and changes in sexual health can occur.
The Important Message: Perimenopause is not a single symptom. It’s a biological transition.
Recognizing the full spectrum of symptoms can help women seek appropriate evaluation and individualized care instead of simply being told to ‘manage the mood swings.’
Modern menopause care is moving toward personalized treatment, preventive health, lifestyle interventions, and earlier recognition of long-term health risks.
These evolving approaches to menopause management, healthy aging, women’s wellness, and precision gynecology will be explored at the 12th Global Summit on Gynecology, Fertility and Women’s Health (GFWH 2026).

Understanding perimenopause means understanding the whole woman—not just one symptom.”
