“PCOS doesn’t necessarily mean you have ‘lots of cysts’ on your ovaries.
The structures seen on ultrasound are typically small follicles that have accumulated because follicular development is disrupted.
These are not the same as pathological ovarian cysts.
Understanding the difference matters – because PCOS is about much more than what appears on an ultrasound.
