Beyond ‘Good’ vs ‘Bad’ Bacteria
The vaginal microbiome is dynamic. In many women, Lactobacillus-dominant communities are associated with a lower vaginal pH and may help limit the growth of certain pathogens.
Microbiome and Gynecological Health
Changes in microbial communities are being investigated in conditions such as bacterial vaginosis, recurrent vaginal infections, HPV persistence, and some reproductive health outcomes.
Can We Diagnose Through Microbes?
Researchers are exploring microbial signatures that could potentially support earlier diagnosis, risk assessment, and personalized treatment.
From Antibiotics to Precision Therapies?
Future approaches may include targeted probiotics, microbiome-based therapies, live biotherapeutic products, and personalized interventions – but many remain under investigation.
AI Meets Microbiome Science
AI and multi-omics approaches may help researchers analyze complex interactions between microbes, hormones, immunity, genetics, and the vaginal environment.
