”Embryo Secretome: Advancing Non-Invasive Embryo Assessment in Assisted Reproductive Technology.
The search for more accurate and objective methods of embryo selection continues to drive innovation in reproductive medicine. Among the most promising developments is the study of the embryo secretome. The diverse array of biomolecules released by embryos into the culture medium during in vitro development.
Growing scientific evidence suggests that secretome profiling may provide valuable insights into embryo developmental competence, metabolic activity, implantation potential, and overall viability, offering a complementary approach to conventional morphology-based assessment.
By integrating genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and advanced bioinformatics, researchers are working toward the development of non-invasive, data-driven embryo selection strategies that have the potential to improve implantation rates, optimize clinical decision-making, and support personalized IVF treatment.
Although technical challenges, including biomarker standardization, analytical sensitivity, and large-scale clinical validation, remain to be addressed, the embryo secretome represents a rapidly evolving area of research with significant translational potential.
As reproductive medicine embraces precision diagnostics and artificial intelligence, secretome-based embryo assessment may become an integral component of the next generation of IVF practices.”
