”My IVF Journey Series: 1 of 5
My first round of IVF was in 2015.
It was not what I expected or had hoped.
I was diagnosed with stage four endometriosis in 2014 and was told I would be a great candidate for IVF.
Two things I did not want to hear.
My world came crashing down and I started on a trajectory that almost destroyed me.
Pumping my body with endless drugs, invasive procedures and the mental health impact that no one prepared me for, and many don’t recognise.
The first experience of grief after a failed round – no eggs collected – and how it diminished my sense of self was just astonishing. No help or support was offered after the failed round.
I felt I was at war with my own body.
This year’s theme for National Fertility Awareness Week is ‘Unfiltered’, and I’m aiming to share the sides of infertility and IVF that are not spoken about or seen through my video series.
