DET with Good-Prognosis Mosaic Embryos Linked to High Twin Risk – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In this retrospective study analyzing double embryo transfers (DET) with mosaic embryos, transferring two good prognosis embryos resulted in an unacceptably high rate of twin pregnancies; thus, say the authors, this type of DET should be avoided.
The risk of twin pregnancies was mitigated without impacting the chance of live birth when DET was performed with moderate or poor prognosis mosaic embryos. The authors suggest that, based on the study findings, it may be reasonable to update current recommendations to include avoidance of DET with good-prognosis (particularly low level segmental) mosaic embryos, considering the high risk of multiple pregnancy, but also note that these findings should be validated in larger studies before adopting any changes to clinical practice.
