Asma Khalil: Which Side Should I Sleep On? – One of the Questions I Hear Most Often
Asma Khalil, Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine at St. George’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
” ‘Which side should I sleep on?’ is one of the questions I hear most often in clinic — and it’s a good one.
After 28 weeks, the evidence consistently supports left-lateral sleep as the safer position. It improves uteroplacental blood flow and has been associated with a reduced risk of stillbirth.
In this clip, I explain the physiology behind this recommendation and what I advise my patients in practice.”
