Global Fertility Rates Reach Record Lows – Igyxos

“Global Fertility Rates Reach Record Lows
Recent data highlight a stark global reality: fertility rates are falling to unprecedented lows across nations. To name a few, recently highlighted in the news:
In England, Scotland, and Wales, fertility rates have dropped to historic lows — 1.41 in England and Wales, and just 1.25 in Scotland (ONS 2025; NRS 2025; The Guardian, 2025).
In the United States, the fertility rate fell to 1.6 — far below the replacement rate of 2.1 (CDC, 2025; United Nations, 2024; The Associated Press, 2025).
Italy recorded its lowest birth rate since unification in 1861, with a fertility rate of only 1.18 (ISTAT, 2025; Reuters, 2025).
With fertility rates at record lows, the need for effective infertility treatments is more urgent than ever. Yet this remains an area where there has been little innovation in addressing the root of the issue.
At Igyxos Biotherapeutics, we are advancing IGX12, our first-in-class monoclonal antibody designed to potentiate the activity of FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) — aiming to address a key biological pathway underlying both male and female infertility.
Together we remain committed to advancing science and offering hope to millions, with plans to initiate Phase 2 clinical trials in 2026.
