Pauliina Valpas: 2nd Reflection from the AIFertility Conference
Pauliina Valpas, CCO at OTO Fertility, shared on LinkedIn:
“This is my second reflection from the AIFertility conference.
Some of the clearest answers on running AI at scale seem to come from clinics that already work at scale.
INDIRA IVF HOSPITAL PUNE has 200+ clinics in India.
They showed concretely how AI is integrated across the entire patient journey, from marketing to call centre to clinical decision support to patient reports and patient engagement.
Kshitiz Murdia explained the groundwork behind it: clinical and laboratory data connected within one EMR, so that AI can see the whole patient. What impressed me profoundly was that the experience felt warm, empathetic and personal.
Each market innovates around its own pressures.
South Korea’s fertility rate is around 0.7, and Hyejun Lee, shared that doctors there perform 200 to 400 pick-ups a month.
Her company, Kai Health, builds AI for embryo assessment. Just imagine how the entire treatment needs to be designed to support such scale from beginning to end.
In Brazil, where cost and distance keep many people from treatment, Chris Rego and FertGroup – Medicina Reprodutiva, South America’s largest fertility network, are working on access as much as on technology.
Not everything translates from one market to another. Regulation, reimbursement and patient expectations differ.
But volume builds data and experience faster, and that makes these markets worth keeping an eye on, regardless of where you work.
Thank you, Vinesh Gadhia, for chairing a session that showed how much we can learn from each other.”
