Stanka Matic: Reproductive Health Is Overall Health
Stanka Matic, Embryologist, Research Associate, and Project Coordinator at University Hospital Basel, shared on LinkedIn:
“It might sound obvious, but somehow we still need to say it: reproductive health is overall health!
Endometriosis, PCOS, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, painful periods, hormonal imbalances, menstrual disorders, pelvic inflammatory disease, reproductive cancers, and menopause-related conditions.
These are just some of the health challenges millions of women face, often silently.
And let’s not forget the couples struggling with infertility, going through countless appointments, treatments, uncertainty, and emotional challenges while hoping to build a family.
For too long, women’s symptoms have been dismissed, pain has been normalized, and diagnoses have taken years.
But thankfully, things are starting to change.
We’re seeing growing awareness, more research and greater attention to women’s reproductive health. There is still a long way to go, but it’s encouraging to see this progress.
I’m personally very happy to be part of this change here in Basel.
Because reproductive health is not just about fertility. It’s about our physical health, mental well-being, quality of life, and long-term health.
Women’s reproductive health is not a niche topic. It’s an essential part of overall health.”
