The Lancet Publishes IFFS Commentary on Global Fertility Challenges – IFFS
International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Women’s Health published our insight commentary entitled ‘expanding fertility awareness and choices’.
The following issues are highlighted:
- fertility rates are falling all over the world
- more and more young adults decide not to have children
- we have insufficient knowledge about what factors rule reproductive choices
- there seems a distinct differences between desired and realized fertility
- 1 in 6 couples suffer from hashtag#infertility
- access to fertility care is very low in many countries throughout the globe
- an increasing demand exists for fertility care amongst single women (and men) and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
We recommend that societies should more actively support reproductive choices of young adults through education, infertility prevention, reimbursement of fertility care and reforms to support families.
