Asma Khalil: There Is No Established Safe Level of Alcohol Consumption During Pregnancy
Asma Khalil, Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine at St. George’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“There is no established safe level of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.

Heavy alcohol exposure is associated with an increased risk of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, as well as pregnancy complications and developmental problems.
If you drank alcohol before knowing you were pregnant, try not to panic—many women are in this situation. The most important step is to stop drinking once you know you’re pregnant and discuss any concerns with your healthcare professional.
