Jacques Maas: Transformative Strategies for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis
Jacques Maas, Head Center for Reproductive Medicine at Maastricht UMC+, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“When two research schools of Maastricht University Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences and Maastricht UMC+: MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine and GROW – Research Institute for Oncology and Reproduction find each other and utilize long-standing, fruitful collaborations in the Netherlands in the field of endometriosis and adenomyosis, the impossible apparently becomes possible.
Roman Truckenmüller, Paul Wieringa, Niloofar Tahmasebi, and Erik Vrij have been awarded the prestigious NWO (Dutch Research Council) Perspective Grant for the project ‘FEMCHIP – Tackling endometriosis and adenomyosis through improved clinical diagnostics and human in vitro models to unlock understanding and therapy development’.
FEMCHIP aims to transform the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis and adenomyosis by developing innovative imaging tools, creating advanced 3D disease models, and identifying new therapies to reduce pain and improve fertility.
The FEMCHIP consortium is a collaboration between Maastricht University, MUMC+, UMC Utrecht, Amsterdam UMC, and Radboud University. To address the urgent need for better diagnostics and treatments, FEMCHIP collaborates closely with Dutch and international industry partners, patient organizations, and innovation hubs to accelerate solutions for these underserved diseases.
