BioWorld News shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A study involving a small cohort of women who have received uterus transplants has cast fresh light on how the immune system shapes pregnancy outcomes, opening up new avenues of research into implantation failure, preeclampsia and preterm birth. The study was led by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Karolinska Institutet.
“This isn’t just a transplant story,” said Paige Porrett, professor of surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. “We used transplant as a lens, but the biology may map onto normal pregnancies and high-risk ones.”
