“AJOG Surgeon’s Corner: Internal manual compression of the aorta—an effective way to temporarily control pelvic bleeding in obstetrical hemorrhage – Internal manual compression of the aorta:
While the assistant moves the uterus over the symphysis pubis after externalizing it, the surgeon introduces his or her dominant hand into the abdomen and compresses the aorta against the vertebral bodies immediately above its bifurcation with the help of a surgical pad.”
