Veronika Denner: EndEndoSilence Drives National Conversation on Endometriosis Care Failures
Veronika Denner, Research Fellow at Big Data Institute, shared a post by Hannah Katinka Beck, Volunteer Managing Director at EndEndoSilence, on LinkedIn:
“Super proud of my dear friend and EndEndoSilence founder Theresia Crone, who recently aired on one of Germany’s biggest political podcasts, ‘Lage der Nation’ (‘State of the Nation’, with 1-2 million monthly listeners), where she spoke openly and powerfully about what it really means to live with endometriosis: years of pain not taken seriously, oftentimes no symptom-free days, and a long, exhausting search for help.
This suffering is not inevitable, but rather the result of systemic neglect of women’s health. This is why we at EndEndoSilence demand
- A full, insurance-covered gynaecological history + ultrasound exam by any gynaecologist rather than only in specialised endometriosis centres, so that patients don’t have to wait 10 years for a diagnosis
- Mandatory endometriosis and adenomyosis training for doctors across multiple disciplines, not just gynaecologists (endometriosis is a whole-body condition with whole-body symptoms!)
- More research funding so scientists can finally uncover the mechanisms of endometriosis and develop treatments that genuinely work.
Our message is now reaching a national audience and that’s exactly how change begins.
If you speak German, I really encourage you to check out the episode!”
Quoting Hannah Katinka Beck’s post:
“Endo in a position! Our board member Theresia Crone was a guest on the “State of the Nation” podcast and explains what it can mean to live with endometriosis: Doctors do not take pain seriously, hardly any symptom-free days for years, stressful and long search for help. What we therefore demand from our political representatives:
- Extensive anamnesis paid for by the health insurance company with gynecologists (and not only in the endocenter) – so that we no longer have to wait 10 years for a diagnosis.
- Mandatory further training on endo and adenomyosis for physicians of various disciplines.
- More research funding so that scientists can find out what causes Endo and which drugs really help.
Let’s go.”
